ARTIFACT: This is an American-made submarine patch for the United States Navy's USS Jallao (SS-368). The Jallao was launched from Manitowoc, Wisconsin on June 12, 1944. She was decommissioned on September 30, 1946 and recommissioned during the Korean War. Her second decommissioning took place just over thirty years after her initial launching. Jallao sunk a Japanese warship on her first voyage and went on a total of four total World War II patrols. The patch shows a fish wearing a sailor's cap about to launch a missile. The patch reads *U*S*S* JALLAO.
