ARTIFACT: This is a very unique pair of United States Army dog tags from World War II of enlisted men whose next-of-kin is Baroness Maria Reitzes. The two tags are for Franz Taussig and Octavio Alvarez. Even with the names being completely different, the tags sport the SAME Serial number!!! OSS operatives?? It's very odd because the serial number comes back to Octavio Alvarez, but supposedly here is a guy with a Hispanic name born in Czechoslovakia in 1906. He was a non-US citizen when he joined the Army and he was an artist with 4 years of college living in NYC. The Baroness Marie Reitzes von Marienwert was born in Austria in 1892 and was a frequent world traveler based in NYC with a Lichtenstein passport. A first class passenger manifest (not included) shows her address as the Savoy from 1950.

VINTAGE: Circa 1942.

SIZE: 1-1/8" height and 2" width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Pot metal.

ATTACHMENT: Both tags have individual cords.

MARKINGS: N/A.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a World War II United States Army collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. ebay VBJX95 LEGEX1/15 SDJJX2/15

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): Both tags show light wear and tarnish.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
