ARTIFACT: This is a unique 1913 reunion badge for the United Confederate Veterans (UCV), the Confederate answer to the Union's Grand Army of the Republic formed in 1889. The UCV remained active until 1951. The badge was made for members of the Stuart Horse Artillery, Army of Northern Virginia, or the 2nd Virginia Cavalry Company C. The reunion was held in Chattanooga, Tennessee and there is a scene in relief of an encampment at Lookout Mountain.

VINTAGE: Circa 1913.

SIZE: Approximately 6-1/2" in height and 2-1/4" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gilt brass, silk.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal safety-style pin.

MARKINGS: WHITEHEAD & HOAG CO. NEWARK N.J. on back of bar; OFFICIAL VETERAN BADGE MADE BY SCHWAAB STAMP & SEAL CO. MILWAUKEE WIS. on back of medallion.

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The badge has some areas of darkening to the ribbon.
