Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a World War I theatre-made YMCA stick pin with the group's enameled red and blue triangle logo. The Association was started by a group of disillusioned young men in London in 1844 as a refuge from the social ills with which city life teemed. Nine years later the first American YMCA was set up at the old South Church in Boston, Massachusetts by a former sea captain.

VINTAGE:

Circa World War I.

SIZE:

Approximately 1-1/4" in height and 13/16" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Gold-plated brass with enamel.

ATTACHMENT:

Stick pin.
