Description

ARTIFACT:

This is the finest Beverlycraft Bombardier wing I have seen. There are many variations of this wing out there, as it seems to have evolved from the First Type, an applied bomb on an observer wing, to finally an entire disk with bomb and the proper "target" background applied to an observer/crew/or just round, centered wing. Most of the other "early" or First Type Bombardier wings I have seen by this maker have a bomb similar to the one on this wing, but it is more flat and does not possess the fin at center. They do still have the 2 lines at the widest point of the bomb, and the line near the nose, but they are much flatter. The bomb on this wing, which must be the VERY First Type Bombardier Wing Beverly Craft produced, is like a full half bomb, or even 60% to get technical, as it has 3 of the 4 fins of the bomb present! This wing is reminiscent of its ancestor from WWI: the Bombing Military Aviator Wing, and it would be a centerpiece of any WWII Bombardier Wing or Beverly Craft Wing collection. And the ever-so-slight, almost jaunty "tilt" to the hand-applied bomb just adds to this wing's charm!
