ARTIFACT: This is a Stunningly Beautiful 1927 San Antonio Texas Chief of Detectives Badge of Joe Harris.

The badge is in incredible condition, and was exquisitely fashioned from mostly rose 14K Gold, but also yellow 14K gold, which was used for the outer wreath.

The badge was completely had made and engraved by Hertzberg, the Tiffany of San Antonio at the time (sadly, no longer in business). The badge sports hard fired blue enamel in the lettering, and reverse blue enameling at center in the background of the star, accentuating the TEXAS around it. At center is a beautiful diamond, and the eye of the very 3 dimensional eagle is also a sparkling diamond.

The badge is not huge, at approximately 2-3/16" in height x 1-9/16" in width, but it has a huge presence, with a depth of 1/4" (NOT counting the pin!) and a weight of 40 grams, or almost 1.5 ounces.

The badge comes with its original chamois leather storage case, which measures 3-1/4" in height x 2-5/8" in width.

A little late to be truly Old West, what it lacks in age, this badge makes up for in beauty, and weight.

VINTAGE: 1927.
