Description
This is a stunning World War I era member badge for the FAI (Fédération Aéronautique Internationale, or World Air Sports Federation) Aero Club Suisse. The FAI was founded in 1905 in France by several countries who recognized a need for a group to oversee the new advances in flight that were then taking place. The badge is in beautifully enameled .800 silver. It has a partial maker mark of renowned Swiss Jeweler Huguenin on reverse.
VINTAGE:Circa World War I era.
SIZE:Approximately 1-3/16" in height and 15/16" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:.800 silver with gilt details, enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical safety pin with round saddle.
MARKINGS:0.800 and Swiss silver mark on front; partial Huguenin maker mark on reverse.
