Description
Stunning 1880's - 1890's United States Navy Rear Admiral epaulets in original Japanned tin. Each epaulet is beautifully wrapped in gold bullion and display two five point stars and an anchor and rope in bullion and tin detail. The underside of each also features a brass attachment bar, brown leather, and suede and one reads: "LEFT" and the other: "RIGHT". The tin has a hinged lid with buckle closure and handle. The interior features an additional lidded 'chamber' and the outside is finished with a hard, black lacquer. If only these could talk and tell the tale of who owned them!

CONDITION:8+ (Excellent): The epaulets are in remarkable condition showing only light to moderate wear, minor bullion snags on right epaulet (see photos) does not detract, overall bright and gorgeous patina, much of the original lacquer of the tin remains intact, overall excellent condition.
