ARTIFACT: Scarce WWII Japanese Homefront women's patriotic association handbag in excellent condition. The center of the woven handbag features an ink stamp or hand-painted embellishment that shows an anchor with a red five point star in the center surrounded by floral-like wreath. The bag has a flap top and two snap closures and reverse shows a riveted strap or handle.

VINTAGE: Circa WWII

SIZE: Approximately 10" x 7-1/2" (closed); 14-7/8" x 7-1/2" (open)

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Ink, paint, painted steel snaps, steel rivets, heavy woven material, cotton facing

ATTACHMENT: Flap with painted steel snap closure

MARKINGS: "TRADE MARK" on snap.

CONDITION: 8 (Excellent-): The handbag shows minor wear and soiling, the snaps remain intact, light oxidation on reverse rivets, overall excellent condition.
