ARTIFACT: This is an experimental canteen for the United States Army which was used during the Philippines Insurrection era. The canteen was experimental in that it was used in a tropical clime yet had a wool insulating layer. There is a chain connecting the cork to the mouth of the canteen, and the body of the canteen is secured within a canvas covering by laces.

VINTAGE: Circa 1906.

SIZE: Approximately 10-1/2" height and 9" width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Cotton canvas cover, cork stopper, steel/tin/galvanized tin hardware, twine, wool insulation.

ATTACHMENT: One triangular brass loop on each side.

MARKINGS: N/A.

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): Covering has some small spots of discoloration.
