Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a scarce circa 1930 Haitian Constabulary (Gendarmerie) undress uniform button for wear on khakis by as worn by United States Marine Corps and United States Navy members. The United States occupied Haiti starting in 1915 to safeguard American business interests on the island and remained there long after the Paris Peace Treaty of 191The button reads Republique D' Haiti at the top over a pair of cannons. It is marked N.S. Meyer New York on reverse.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1930.

SIZE:

Approximately 1" in diameter.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Lacquered brass.

ATTACHMENT:

Loop.

MARKINGS:

N.S. MEYER NEW YORK.
