ARTIFACT: This is a World War II G-1 jacket name patch for the United States Navy Air Sea Rescue. The patch is rectangular and reads J. P. O'CONNELL AIR SEA RESCUE UNIT CORRY FIELD. In its beginning, Corry Field was an active aviation training complex where advanced fighter plane techniques were taught. In 1943, the field was re-designated as Naval Auxiliary Air Station Corry Field, continuing to serve as a training center for aviators through World War II and during the Korean War, until its decommissioning as an active airfield in June 1958.

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: 2" height and 4-15/16" width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Leather patch with gold painted lettering.
