Description
This is a rare Royal Australian Air Force summer battle dress jacket with pilot wings. The jacket is named to J. Ireland inside and dated 1944 on its manufacturer label.
VINTAGE:Circa 1944.
SIZE:Size 19 "British" (approximate size 34).
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Twill/muslin (unlined), twill embroidered in silk/cotton threads (wing), cotton with embroidery tape (stripes), metal and resin buttons, nickel-plated brass buckles.
ATTACHMENT:Buttons with small cotter pins, two straps with buckles above waistband.
MARKINGS:A33688 IRELAND, J (written twice inside), two inked stamps, SANFORISED SHRUNK (denoting a pre-shrinking process) near seam and N137AF 1944 SIZE 14 MADE IN AUSTRALIA on label.
