ARTIFACT: This is a rare Royal Australian Air Force summer battle dress jacket with pilot wings. The jacket is named to J. Ireland inside and dated 1944 on its manufacturer label.

VINTAGE: Circa 1944.

SIZE: Size 19 "British" (approximate size 34).

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Twill/muslin (unlined), twill embroidered in silk/cotton threads (wing), cotton with embroidery tape (stripes), metal and resin buttons, nickel-plated brass buckles.

ATTACHMENT: Buttons with small cotter pins, two straps with buckles above waistband.

MARKINGS: A33688 IRELAND, J (written twice inside), two inked stamps, SANFORISED SHRUNK (denoting a pre-shrinking process) near seam and N137AF 1944 SIZE 14 MADE IN AUSTRALIA on label.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a Great Britain collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months.

CONDITION: 7- (Very Fine-): The jacket has one hole above the wings and small scattered spots of rusty discoloration.
