This is a rare, hand-painted World War II jacket patch for the United States Army Air Forces 11th Fighter Squadron, 343rd Fighter Group, 11th Air Force. The 11th defended the Aleutians Islands and saw combat in the Northern Pacific, flying both P-40s and P-38s. The patch shows the head of a yellow tiger and reads WE'LL BE THERE. The photo of the envelope posted from Seattle in 1944 (envelope not for sale) helps to identify this patch (credit for image: www.postalhistory.com).
Circa World War II.
Approximately 5-1/4" in diameter.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
This is from a United States Army Air Forces collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VGEX12 LGEJX9/12
7- (Very Fine-): The patch shows some areas of moderate wear.
GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
