ARTIFACT: Rare, New York City 1880's – 1890's Department of Finance "Employe" Badge (older spelling of the word). Nice early eagle perched at the top badge, with an early seal depicted in the center, and the words: "EMPLOYE DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE CITY OF NEW YORK" around the center with black painted details, as well as the number "12" on an applied panel at the bottom The words "EMPLOYE" and the number "12" are hand engraved, the remaining letters are stamped.

VINTAGE: Circa 1880's – 1890's

SIZE: Approximately: 2 ½" x 1 ¾"

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: High relief stamped nickel, paint, and nickeled brass findings.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical kick pin with come under 'C' catch.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a New York City collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MABEX15 LFGEJX4/15

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine—Excellent): Badge shows light to moderate wear, nearly all of the painted details remain fully intact, overall handsome patina.
