This is a rare late World War II jacket patch for the United States Navy submarine USS Jallao (SS-368). The Jallao was launched from Manitowoc, Wisconsin on June 12, 1944. She was decommissioned on September 30, 1946 and recommissioned during the Korean War. Her second decommissioning took place just over thirty years after her initial launching. Jallao sunk a Japanese warship on her first voyage and went on a total of four total World War II patrols. The patch shows a jallao (fish) with a sailor cap on holding a missile.
Circa late World War II.
Approximately 4-1/8" in diameter.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Wool felt embroidered in cotton/silk threads, mesh backing.
This is from a United States Navy collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VAJJX12 LGEJX10/12
8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The patch shows only some light wear.
GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
