ARTIFACT: This is a rare circa early to mid-1930s pilot wing for the early Canadian Airline, Canadian Airways, Limited. It is in a high 1930s Deco design, and although unmarked for content, the rainbow patina on it leads me to believe that it is in coin or higher grade silver with a gold wash. The airline was formed in 1926 and was one of Canada's earliest airlines. It was in existence until about 1939 when it joined with Mackenzie Air Services to become United aircraft Services, which was bought up early in 1942 and became part of Canadian Pacific Airlines.

VINTAGE: Circa early to mid-1930s.

SIZE: Approximately 11/16" in height and 3-3/8" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Silver-plated brass.

ATTACHMENT: Two single screw posts with disc backings.

MARKINGS: MCKENZIE CLAY WINNIPEG.

ITEM NOTES: Many thanks to Mike McLean for the ID! This is from an airline collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MBJX96 LHGEX4/13 SHGEX-GCCGEX5/13

CONDITION: 7- (Very Fine-): The wing shows some medium wear and tarnish and a small fissure at the joint of one wing.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
