Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a rare circa early to mid-1930s pilot wing for the early Canadian Airline, Canadian Airways, Limited. It is in a high 1930s Deco design, and although unmarked for content, the rainbow patina on it leads me to believe that it is in coin or higher grade silver with a gold wash. The airline was formed in 1926 and was one of Canada's earliest airlines. It was in existence until about 1939 when it joined with Mackenzie Air Services to become United aircraft Services, which was bought up early in 1942 and became part of Canadian Pacific Airlines.
