Description
This is a rare circa 1944 badge for the South African Air Force No. 31 Squadron, a heavy bomber squadron based in the Mediterranean. This squadron flew B-24s over Crete, Ploesti and Warsaw. The badge shows an owl flying among searchlights with two dice above him displaying a three and a one.
VINTAGE:Circa 1944.
SIZE:Approximately 7/8" in diameter with one wing tip pointing out slightly past the edge.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Plated brass with black and white enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical pin (catch is missing).
