ARTIFACT:
This is a rare circa World War II (1943) United States Army Air Forces bombardier wing made in the United Kingdom by Firmin. The wing is silver hallmarked! The photos do not do the patina justice. I have only ever owned a handful of these wings, and the 1943-44 Birmingham date stamp "T" puts this solidly in the heyday of the 8th Air Forces Bombing Missions. English-made Air Corps wings are hard enough to find, but with silver hallmarks one might expect to see 2 or 3 in a lifetime. This exquisite wing is made by Firmin & Sons of London and carries their hallmark and was made in their factory in Birmingham between July 1943 and July 1944. A wonderful example of an extremely rare wing.
