Description
This is a rare circa 1915 member badge for the Woman's Peace Party by Hyman and Company of Chicago. The Woman's Peace Party was the first pacifist organization to use the tactic of public demonstration, and also the first to be comprised exclusively of female members. Chaired by Jane Addams, the Party took root in response to the outbreak of World War I. Members were criticized openly by the government and some even imprisoned for their views.
