ARTIFACT: This is a very rare and fabulous "Poland Unchained" badge made in Britain and a patch from the RAF for a World War II Polish Air Force pilot. The badge is one of the first of its kind made in Britain for pilots from the Polish Air Force exiled in Britain. The original chain on the badge was cut and cast off to symbolize casting off the chains of Nazi Oppression. The badge shows an eagle soaring with a wreath, and the green paint on the wreath denotes that this could have belonged to a Polish pilot who fought in the Battle of Britain.

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: 1-3/8 height and by 2-1/2" width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Cast silver with paint and embroidered cotton patch.

ATTACHMENT: Single screw pin with disk catch.

MARKINGS: JAN KNEDLER WARSZAW on pin and Polish words on disc.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a foreign Air Force collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VGEX09 LABJJX SGJJX8/12

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine): Pin shows some wear and has a handsome tarnishing; patch is in good condition.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
