Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a very rare and fabulous "Poland Unchained" badge made in Britain and a patch from the RAF for a World War II Polish Air Force pilot. The badge is one of the first of its kind made in Britain for pilots from the Polish Air Force exiled in Britain. The original chain on the badge was cut and cast off to symbolize casting off the chains of Nazi Oppression. The badge shows an eagle soaring with a wreath, and the green paint on the wreath denotes that this could have belonged to a Polish pilot who fought in the Battle of Britain.
