Description
This is a rare Chinese decoration for the 1923 inauguration of Cao Kun. Gaining the leadership of the Republic of China in October 1923, Cao Kun won his "election" through several unabashed bribes. His regime lasted for only just over a year, at which time the Beijing Coup was attempted with success, and Kun was imprisoned for two years at the hands of his own Army General. The decoration is missing its ribbon an image of Kun, which would have been at the center of the side with the pink flowered border. The decoration is beautifully enameled.
