ARTIFACT: This is a rare circa 1912 Democratic National Convention (DNC) Alternate badge. The DNC met at Baltimore, Maryland from June 25-July 2 of that year. The main contenders for the party were House Speaker Champ Clark of Missouri and New Jersey Governor and eventual President, Woodrow Wilson. The badge is by Whitehead & Hoag of Newark, New Jersey and is in excellent condition. The top of the badge shows Capitol Hill, and the main medallion hangs from a red, white and blue ribbon.

VINTAGE: Circa 1912.

SIZE: Approximately 4-1/2" in height and 1-13/16" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Bronze, enamel, silk.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal pin with tongue-style catch, ribbon.

MARKINGS: The Whitehead & Hoag Co. (twice).

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The badge is in excellent condition; some very small spots of oxidation; some wear to the ribbon on reverse.
