Rare 1912 Democratic National Convention Alternate Badge in Excellent Condition by Whitehead & Hoag

Description
This is a rare circa 1912 Democratic National Convention (DNC) Alternate badge. The DNC met at Baltimore, Maryland from June 25-July 2 of that year. The main contenders for the party were House Speaker Champ Clark of Missouri and New Jersey Governor and eventual President, Woodrow Wilson. The badge is by Whitehead & Hoag of Newark, New Jersey and is in excellent condition. The top of the badge shows Capitol Hill, and the main medallion hangs from a red, white and blue ribbon.
VINTAGE:Circa 1912.
SIZE:Approximately 4-1/2" in height and 1-13/16" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Bronze, enamel, silk.
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal pin with tongue-style catch, ribbon.
MARKINGS:The Whitehead & Hoag Co. (twice).
