ARTIFACT: This is a rare circa 1850s or 1860s uniform button for the 5th Dragoon Guards (VDG) British Army. In royal service from 1685 from 1922, the 5th was known as the Princess Charlotte's of Wales Dragoon Guards. The button was made by Jennens & Co. of London. The button bears the mottos VESTIGIA NULLA RETRORSUM (No stepping back, or No signs of returning) and shows a running horse encircled by a garter.

VINTAGE: Circa 1850s-1860s.

SIZE: Approximately 1" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Brass.

ATTACHMENT: Button loop.

MARKINGS: JENNENS & CO. LONDON.

ITEM NOTES: The button you will receive will either be this one or one in similar condition. This is from a Great Britain and Commonwealth collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. ebay nwph CON-DB-25-13 LAAEX5/13

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The button shows little wear and has a couple of tiny flecks of oxidation.
