ARTIFACT: This is a pre - 1960 Navajo Tribal Police badge, although we are still researching its authenticity. The badge is definitely hand-tooled out of copper in the traditional Navajo Dine' style. Now known as the Navajo Nation Police, the tribal police was re-founded in 1959 after a decades-long hiatus. This badge could easily be something from circa 1960 that was worn, or something that was given out as a souvenir to VIPs when the agency was founded. Or, it might have been worn before the re-founding of the Tribal Police in 1959.

VINTAGE: Before 1960.

SIZE: Approximately 2" in width and 2-5/16" in height.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Hand-tooled copper with nickel findings and a steel pin. The front has "jeweler's black" in the letters and tooling to give contrast.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical pin with C catch.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from an accumulation of unidentified items which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MBJX12 LX6/13

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent-): The badge has only some light wear.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
