This is a circa World War I United States Army Engineer Corps compass. The compass is dated 1918 on reverse and reads ENGINEER CORPS U.S. along the brass edge of the cover. The outer edge of the compass body is marked off in degrees.
VINTAGE:Circa World War I.
SIZE:Approximately 2-1/8" in diameter (without ring) and 13/16" in thickness.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Brass, glass.
ATTACHMENT:Suspension ring, hingeing lid, locking clasp.
MARKINGS:C-E NO. 17778 1918.

CONDITION:7+ (Very Fine+): The compass has some tarnish and light wear, cork ring partially worn away on reverse.
