ARTIFACT:
This is a mint, mint, mint late 1940s United States Army Air Forces L-1 flight suit. It is in a lightweight olive cotton with a USAF logo iron-on decal at the shoulder. It is size medium regular, and has a main zipper with a leather pull, six zippered pockets and zippered vents at the pant cuffs. It was manufactured by L. W. Sportswear.
VINTAGE:
Circa late 1940s.
SIZE:
Medium Regular: approximately 19-1/2" from armpit to armpit; 60" length from center of back collar to pant cuff; 17-3/4" from shoulder to shoulder along back; 24" from shoulder seam to end of cuff; 30-1/2" inseam.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Lightweight gabardine wool, twill, metal zippers, leather zipper pull (on main zipper), leather hanger, resin buttons.
ATTACHMENT:
Zipper, zippers at pant cuffs and on pockets, buttons at arm cuffs and at waist.
