ARTIFACT:
This is a stunning, mint and rare circa 1953 American Airlines flight engineer wing on its original card. This wing is by L. G. Balfour Company, and is one of the most beautiful and sought-after of all American Airlines wings. The feathers are intricately detailed and the edge of the nose at the wing's center is quite convex.
VINTAGE:
Circa 1953.
SIZE:
Wing: approximately 11/16" in height by 3-1/4" in width; card: approximately 1-13/16" in height by 3-1/2" in width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Gold-filled (1/20 10K); oak tag card and cellophane.
ATTACHMENT:
Two screw posts with disc backings.
MARKINGS:
LGB (Balfour mark) 1/20 10K GF on reverse of wing; L. G. BALFOUR CO. ATTLEBORO, MASS. on card.
