ARTIFACT:

This is a Lovely Medium Size Hopi Overlay Buckle, Ca 1970's, by Floyd Namingha LOMAKUYVAYA. Floyd Namingha Lomakuyvaya is a well-known Hopi artist.  Floyd was born in 1940 in Shongopavi, AZ. *Shongopovi (Hopi: Songoopavi) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Navajo County, Arizona, United States. It is located on the Second Mesa, within the Hopi Reservation.

He has been working as an artisan since 1969, and he shows his work at the Monongya Gallery on 3rd Mesa. There are three stylized Hopi on the buckle.  Stamped "Sterling" "T" on the inside of the buckle.
