This is a Royal Air Force field service cap badge worn late in World War II by pilot officers through group captains and on the general service cap by female officers. A pilot officer is the equivalent of a US 2nd Lieutenant and a group captain is the equivalent of a US Colonel.
VINTAGE:Circa late World War II.
SIZE:Approximately 2" in height and 1-7/8" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Gold-plated brass with enamel and velvet accents and hemp backing.
ATTACHMENT:Three brads.
