This is a circa late 1940s sterling silver Trans World Airlines (TWA) stewardess wing 1st issue type 1 by Balfour. Transcontinental & Western Airlines became Trans World Airlines in late 1945. The wing shows an aircraft flying over the letters TWA, which sit on the shaft of an arrow. The back of the wing is not completely solid and is hollowed out in a few spots, including the TWA lettering.
Circa late 1940s.
Approximately 1-1/4" in height by 2-1/4" in width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Horizontal pin with come-under locking swivel catch.
This is from an airlines collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VBBEL98 LDGEX12/11
6+ (Fine-Very Fine): The wing shows some areas of moderate wear and tarnish.
GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
