ARTIFACT:

This is a great, very large, and quite rare, 6 Point Star Badge from Camp Anza, which was a United States Army installation, in what is now Riverside, California, during World War II. The badge has a large number 46 at center, and has the very imposing title of WAR DEPARTMENT PATROL at top.

Camp Anza only existed from early 1943 to early 1946, and is all civilian land now, although some of the buildings from WWII still exist and are repurposed.

The 229th Military Police Company, Zone of the Interior, Army Service Forces, was stationed at the camp, and soldiers of the unit most likely wore this badge.

VINTAGE: World War II.

SIZE: Approximately 3-3/8" in height x 2-7/8" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Nickel plated nickel, with black paint in lettering. Kick Pin with Drop In Locking Round Burgess Catch.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical kick pin with drop in locking Round Burgess catch.

MARKINGS: L.A. STAMP & STATY. CO.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a police and law enforcement badge collection that we will be listing more of over the next few months. PBJJZ21 LFGEX07/21/22 SFGEX08/11/22

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): Moderate wear, moderate storage wear & patination, and loss of paint from central numbers all lower condition, but they do not really detract, as badge has a great appearance and would be a great addition to any Military Police Badge collection, or Riverside California Police Badge Collection.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
