Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a great, very large, and quite rare, 6 Point Star Badge from Camp Anza, which was a United States Army installation, in what is now Riverside, California, during World War II. The badge has a large number 46 at center, and has the very imposing title of WAR DEPARTMENT PATROL at top.

Camp Anza only existed from early 1943 to early 1946, and is all civilian land now, although some of the buildings from WWII still exist and are repurposed.

The 229th Military Police Company, Zone of the Interior, Army Service Forces, was stationed at the camp, and soldiers of the unit most likely wore this badge.

Approximately 3-3/8" in height x 2-7/8" in width.
