This is a Historic World War II US Maritime Service Sterling ID Bracelet of Famed Liberal Journalist Wesley McCune.
Wesley McCune is a Writer and journalist before 1948; Executive Assistant to Secretary of Agriculture, Charles Brannan, 1948-53; member, Public Affairs staff, Democratic National Committee, 1953-56; Director of Public Relations, National Farmers Union, 1956-62; President, Group Research, Inc., 1962.
He was born in Kansas City, Mo., and grew up on a family farm in Haxtun, Colo. At the University of Colorado, he led the campaign to name the football team the "Buffaloes." He graduated in 1937, a friend and classmate of Byron "Whizzer" White, the late U.S. Supreme Court justice.
In the late 1930s, he came to Washington as an economist for the Department of Agriculture, and he lived mostly in this area for the rest of his life.
Wesley McCune, 87, who founded and for more than 30 years directed a Washington-based research and news organization that tracked right-wing organizations and individuals, died of congestive heart failure Sept. 22 at Washington Hospice. *Information souce from The Washington Post
