ARTIFACT: Great WWI 26th Division Yankee Division 104th Infantry Regiment sterling silver ring. The center depicts the letters: "YD" in raised detail and the sides have stylized 104th Infantry regiment insignia: Flaming Torch (flame usually goes to a point, but to fit on this ring the jewelry company designed a cool, split flame to go left and right where it meets the central signet of the ring!). The torch reads: "104" and below, lower on the "handle", the Cross of Lorraine. The 104th, part of the 26th Yankee Division with a motto "FORTITUDE ET COURAGE" (Fortitude and Courage) fought from start to finish of WWI taking part in six major campaigns: Chemin Des Dames, Apremont, Campagne-Marne, Aisne Marne, St. Mihiel, and Meuse-Argonne. In France, the 104th was engaged in heavy battle and experienced greatest number of casualties of the 26th Division.
