ARTIFACT: This miniature life preserver is a souvenir from the launching of USS Scorpion from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in 1942. The USS Scorpion served in on the coast of Japan during World War II and was lost in the Yellow Sea in 1944.

VINTAGE: Ca. 1942.

SIZE: 5- 1/4" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Various, including cotton, paper and ink, plastic, colored ribbon, and paint.

ATTACHMENT: None.

MARKINGS: The back of the life preserver is marked: "HAND MADE & PRINTED."

ITEM NOTES: This is from a large collection of Navy items which we will be listing more of over the next months. VCEX05 LAFEX07/08 PSLAGEX07/16 SADJX12/19

CONDITION: 8 (Excellent-). This souvenir is in very good shape with only minor yellowing and slight staining.
