ARTIFACT:
Great little reference book: Discovering British Military Badges and Buttons by R.J. Wilkinson ??? Latham. This example is a scarce 1986 printing of an even more rare 1973 publication by Shire Publications Ltd. The book is filled with nearly 80 pages of information and images. Selection from the summary of the book: "This book examines the development of the various styles of head-dress badge, beginning in 1751, when the use of private crests was forbidden, to the first use of 'cap badges' in 1894. From there every style of badge for each regiment is described or illustrated up to the years following the Second World War." The book also covers buttons and regimental badges up to the present day. The inside cover reads: "FROM THE LIBRARY OF ROBERT W. FRITZ".
