ARTIFACT:
This is a great little circa 1890s Old West "stock" deputy sheriff cut-out star badge, with early type Hand-Stamped Lettering. The badge is in a small size and has a diagonal pin fastener.
This badge comes form a time and place in the Old West where the wearer did not want too large of a target on him for a ruthless Outlaw to be able to hit.
This is also a size used by members of quickly assembled Posses to hunt down those same ruthless Outlaws. A great piece of Old West History.
VINTAGE:
Circa 1880's - 1890's.
SIZE:
Approximately 1-3/8" in height and 1-1/16" in width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Stamped nickel, or nickel plated nickel, with black paint accents and a nickel plated brass pin, fastened to the badge with lead solder.
ATTACHMENT:
Diagonal one-piece safety-style pin.

7 (Very Fine): The badge has some light wear and tarnish and some very minor oxidation.
