ARTIFACT:
Great, late 1920s Dornier Flying Boat tie bar in nickeled, enameled brass. In 1929, Dornier built the large, heavy, and powerful craft in Germany the project was financed by the German government. The capacity for carrying passengers was so great that during its first passenger flight, it broke a world record which it held it for twenty years. After air debacles and financial trouble, the Dornier Flying Boat was on exhibit until it was destroyed during a RAF air raid during WWII. The center features a model Dornier craft in red, black, and white enamel detail.
