Description
Rare 1950's Regal Oil Company drivers hat badge. The badge center of the badge features a winged disc that shows a nicely detailed, red enamel oil truck in the center. Surrounding it reads: "REGAL OIL CO." and the base of the badge is numbered: "87" in black enamel detail.
Not much is known about Regal Oil Co., as it was one of the smaller boutique Oil Companies that popped up during the oil boom in Calgary and Alberta. According to the Petroleum History Society Regal Oil Company was believed to have been registered as the Regal Oil Company of Alberta and operated under this original name until 1920 before changing its name to reflect the company's expansion. The new name was Regal Oil & Refining Company of Turner Valley and the company now provided refining operations with dealers and operated filling stations across Alberta. The company was sold to Imperial Oil, but remained in business.
