ARTIFACT: Gorgeous 1885 League of American Wheelman (L. A. W.) 2nd Place Medal in enamel and hand-engraved coin silver named on the reverse to "BENJ. S. WEBB". The center of the medal shows a bicycle wheel with a pinwheel-like arrangement of three feathered wings. The four edges of the square planchet feature nicely blue enameled embellishments with a five-point star in the center. The pinback reads: "SECOND PRIZE 1885" in black enamel detail and the hanger is intricately entwined letters: "PBC" ____ Bicycle Club. This medal came along with the 1886 25 Mile Bicycle Road Race Medal (see link below).

SIZE: Approximately 3" x 1-9/16"

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Enameled coin silver

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal pin, catch is missing.

MARKINGS: "BENJ. S. WEBB"

ITEM NOTES: This is from a bicycling collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MBJX115 LBGEX9/15

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The medal shows moderate to heavy wear, the catch is missing, much of the enamel details remain intact, overall handsome patina.
