ARTIFACT: Fabulous 1912, dated Brown University Brownie Football Badge. Engraving on back shows original owners initials "LFB", badge is gilt sterling silver with red enamel and is made by Bailey, Banks & Biddle.

We are not certain if this was an early Mascot alternative to Bruno the Brown Bear, which dates back to 1904, or just a play on the Brown name, but it was definitely at least quasi-official, having been manufactured by the esteemed Philadelphia jewelry firm of Bailey, Banks & Biddle

VINTAGE: Circa 1912.

SIZE: 1 1/8" in height x 3/8" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Enameled & gilt silver.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical pin with drop in locking clasp.

MARKINGS: B. B. & B. SILVER and engraved "LFB 1912".

CONDITION: 8+ (Excellent): Badge shows extremely light surface wear, nearly all the enameled details remain intact, even lovely patina.
