Description
ARTIFACT:
What we have available in this offering is the "Holy Grail" First American Volunteer Group numbered Member Badge, # 152. Affectionately, but erroneously, referred to as the "Peacock Pin", which is actually two Eagles embracing, to show the partnership between the US & China, perched together on an Arrow. Between the upswept wings of the eagles is a rice plant, symbolizing strength. This example of this extremely rare and historically important badge is numbered 152, and is in Very Fine- condition, with light surface wear, dark patina, and a few small spots of enamel damage.
There were roughly 300 of these badges made, and only one was issued to each member of the original Flying Tigers, so they are extremely rare, and only come up for sale once or twice a decade.
Unfortunately we do not know which member of the Flying Tigers this badge was issued to.
We are honored to bring to market some incredibly rare Flying Tigers / American Volunteer Group, CNAC China National Aviation Corporation, & Chinese Military Aviation Artifacts from Early and PRE WWII from a long time collection out of the Northeast.

CONDITION:
7- (Very Fine-): Small nicks / chips to the enamel keep this otherwise wonderful badge from grading higher. There is a tiny nick in the red enamel background around 2:00, and there are larger chips out of the enamel border around 12:00 and 4:00. The patina of the exposed metal matches the rest of the badger, so this damage took place early on in the existence of the badge.
GUARANTEE:
As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
