ARTIFACT: Extremely rare circa 1880 ??? 1887 1st Perthshire Rifle Volunteers NCO or Piper's Glengarry badge in silver plated nickel. This example is from the period of the unit's first association with the Royal Highlanders: The Black Watch. Post-1887, the unit became the 4th Perthshire Volunteer BN. The center of the badge shows a two-headed bird bearing a shield on its chest that depicts a deer with a flag in its mouth and the outer ring reads: "PRO REGE LEGE ET CREGE" (For the King, the Law, and the People).

VINTAGE: Circa 1880 - 1887

SIZE: Approximately 1-7/8" x 2-1/4"

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Silver-plated nickel

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal 'T' pin with scrolling 'C' type catch

MARKINGS: None.

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine - Excellent): The badge shows minor to moderate wear, much of the silver-plated details remain intact, overall very fine condition.
