PLEASE NOTE: After many years of trying to gain access into one of the top 3 US Wing Collections in the country, we are pleased to announce that we finally are going to be listing pieces from this collection. A collection in the making of almost 30 years, there are many one-of-a-kind pieces in it that will be coming into the collecting market, as well as some of the "Best of Type" pieces. Many wonderful numismatic and biographical wings, uniforms, and groupings will be coming to market for the first time in years, some for the first time ever, over the coming months. This wing is one of those offerings???
Gorgeous, early WWII United States Army Air Forces Air Crew wing, exquisitely carved out of a silver ingot by a jeweler in India for wear in the CBI Theater. The center of the wing shows a beautifully detailed, almost 3-dimensional Great Seal of the United States applied separately, and rests between feather detailed wings.
Circa early WWII
Approximately 3-1/16" x 3/4"
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Carved silver ingot, applied center
Horizontal pin with 'C' type catch with wire pressure locking device.
This is from a large, advanced Aviation Wing, Badge, and Insignia Collection that we will be listing more of in the coming months. VAHHX2/02 CON-RLB-25-16 LDGEX6/16
8- (Very Fine - Excellent): The wing shows minor to moderate wear, overall handsome patina.
GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
