Description
This is an early transitional Hitler youth dagger by a rare maker, C. D. Schaaf. "Hitler Youth" was initially an organization formed to groom teenagers as anti-Semites, but during the War the Youths became fair game to restore depleted military manpower.The blade has an RZM mark and is dated 193It also reads BLUT UND EHRE (blood and honor), an inscription that is all but nonexistent by 1940. The knife has an enameled brass insert on its handle and fits into a sheath with a leather strap to secure it.
VINTAGE:Circa 1938.
SIZE:Approximately 10" in length and 2" in width (at widest part of handle).
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Steel, nickel-plated steel, enameled brass insert, resin handle, painted sheath, leather strap.
ATTACHMENT:Strap with snap.
MARKINGS:C.D. SCHAFF SOLINGEN RZM M7/56 1938 and maker's mark; LXS(?) on leather.

CONDITION:7-(Very Fine-): The knife shows some small spots of wear on the handle and there are a few very small cracks in the enamel insert. The sheath has some light abrasions, the leather is worn-in and the snap still works.
