Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a great commissioner's badge for the Michigan Department of Aeronautics from the Golden Age of Aviation. The badge is by Weyhing Brothers of Detroit and is in gilt sterling silver. It resembles a police badge with the Michigan state seal at its center.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1930s.

SIZE:

Approximately 1-7/8" in height and 1-9/16" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Gilt sterling silver, enameled areas.

ATTACHMENT:

Vertical pin with drop-in locking swivel catch.

MARKINGS:

8 and WEYHING BROS. DETROIT STERLING.
