Description
This is a Canadian-made altimeter, possibly dated either 1943 or 1945, and most likely used by the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II. The dial is numbered 2 through 18 (there is an unnumbered mark for 20) and reads ALTITUDE "1,000 FEET".
VINTAGE:Circa World War II era.
SIZE:Approximately 3-7/16" in height and 3-1/4" in width and 3-3/16" in depth.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Bakelite case, glass, steel.
ATTACHMENT:Five bolts with nuts.
MARKINGS:STI-1044 and ACA PATENTED and CAUTION DO NOT BLOW IN TUBE and a Canadian Aircraft Instruments & Accessories Ltd. tag with serial number 43148 and reference number 6AA-145 (all on reverse); CANADA 6AA-145 and CANADIAN AIRCRAFT INSTRUMENTS & ACCESSORIES LTD. LEASIDE ONTARIO at center of face.

CONDITION:6+ (Fine-Very Fine): Altimeter has some small pieces of Bakelite missing and some light abrasions to the glass and areas of tarnish.
