Description
This is a cool old circa 1920s or 1930s worker badge for the Southern Prison Company of San Antonio, Texas. Southern Prison Co. built Rikers Island in 1930, and is still in business as Southern Folger. The badge is shield-shaped and numbered 158 at center: this is the lowest number I've seen for sale of this badge. The pin on reverse is a period replacement.
VINTAGE:Circa 1920s-1930s.
SIZE:Approximately 1-11/16" in height and 1-3/8" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Plated brass.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical safety pin (period replacement).
MARKINGS:158 on front.
