Early WWI M1917 US Army Aviation Section Signal Corps Officer Collar Insignia with Riveted Construction

ARTIFACT:

This is an early WWI M1917 United States Army Aviation Section, Signal Corps Officer Branch of Service Collar insignia in a beautiful riveted construction. The design of the insignia is a small wing at the center of a torch and two crossed flags. This design was the earliest of the three WWI officer collar insignia designs.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1917 World War I.

SIZE:

Approximately 1-1/16"e; in height and 1-3/16" in length.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Bronze and silvered nickel.

ATTACHMENT:

Horizontal pin with open C catch.

MARKINGS:

None.
