ARTIFACT: This is a circa 1900 worker badge for Schrafft's, a Charlestown, Massachusetts chocolate manufacturer. Schrafft's was started the same year as the Civil War began. The shield-shaped badge is by Bastian Brothers of Rochester, New York. It is labeled ASSISTANT and numbered 2.

VINTAGE: Circa 1900.

SIZE: Approximately 1-7/16" in height x 1-5/16" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Nickel-plated brass, painted areas.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal safety-style pin with saddle.

MARKINGS: BASTIAN BROS. ROCHESTER, N.Y. (very hard to read).

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The badge has some medium wear and tarnish.
